Otterham Quay Lane Rail footbridge

Structural Repair–Over Rail Footbridge Otterham Quay Lane, Rainham

Medway Council will shortly be carrying out essential repair works to the over rail footbridge at Otterham Quay Lane. These repairs will ensure the footbridge is serviceable for the future and is safe for both pedestrians and train users.

The work involves the replacement of the bridge deck, resurfacing of the footway and repainting of the whole structure and will commence on Monday 16th February 2015 with a duration of 8 weeks.

Phase 1 will start on Monday 16th February to Monday 9th March where the works will be carried out in the daytime between the hours of 8am to 5:30pm.

Phase 2 will involve works that are directly over the rail line and have to be carried out at night when trains are not running. The night works will start on Tuesday 10th March to Friday 3rd April between the hours of 1am and 5am. We will write to you again confirming these dates as the project progresses.

The nature of the works being carried out should not create extensive noise levels, however there will be some periods where this is unavoidable and Medway Council apologises for any inconvenience caused during these works.

No scheduled works are to be carried out on Saturdays or Sundays.

During the works the footbridge will be closed to pedestrians, Temporary traffic signals will be in place on Otterham Quay Lane adjacent to the footbridge to facilitate a temporary pedestrian walkway.
