The community petition to save the Lower Rainham and Twydall Farmland was signed by over 1000 residents. Thank you so much to all the residents who supported this along with the local pubs, shops and the Rainham Oast Community Centre who all hosted it. In January we submitted the petition to Medway Council rejecting all unsustainable large-scale developments in Rainham North, including the proposal for 1250 homes in Pump Lane and proposals to the North of Rainham.
We have now followed this up by writing to the Council outlining why the housing estates proposed by developers are unsustainable and unacceptable. It was important to do this to ensure the strength of feeling against these proposals is clearly expressed but also to be specific about why Rainham is not the right place to build huge numbers of new estates. We will continue to keep residents updated on our Facebook, Website, and through our Rainham North In Touch newsletter.
