A lifelong Rainham resident, Martin was elected to represent his home ward of Rainham North in 2015. He has a degree in Information Technology and he is a secondary school teacher by profession. Martin joined the Council’s Cabinet as the Education Lead in 2016 and he has worked with schools and education partners to raise standards for children in Medway. Martin is also a director of Medway’s Music Hub, an organisation that provides musical opportunities to children across Medway.
Martin has worked hard on all variety of issues pursuing the very best for Rainham, including making passionate representations in support of protecting our rural areas and preserving Rainham’s character. Outside of Council pursuits, Martin once abseiled Medway’s tallest building and he enjoys swimming, a bit of running and regular walks in Riverside Country Park. If you need help or support you can always contact Martin or visit him at his monthly surgery.
Kirstine is standing in Rainham North because she wants to serve local residents by carrying on the good work of her late husband, Councillor David Carr. She has very good knowledge of the ward and the things that matter to local people having supported David in his work for Rainham North over the last 12 years. Kirstine knows just how passionate David was about the ward and she is determined to represent residents with the same vigour and commitment.
Kirstine has lived in Medway all her life, a place she loves and really cares about. She went to Fort Pitt Grammar School and later went on to study at the Open University followed by a career in accounting. During that time she raised 2 children and Kirstine now has 5 grandchildren. In her spare time Kirstine enjoys painting, sailing and spending time with the family.
